NORTH JERSEY — This weekend, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) held the annual Fifth District Scout Honor Ceremony to celebrate the achievements of this year’s Scouts who earned the highest rank of the Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs.

“It’s an honor to celebrate the hard-earned achievements of this year’s Scouts who’ve earned the highest rank attainable in the Scouting programs — the Boy Scout Rank of Eagle Scout and the Girl Scout Gold Award,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “From each Scout joining us today, I see the same passion for service, community, and country that have fueled the Scouts for generations. I know you will all go forth and change the world.”

Gottheimer recognized more than sixty Scouts from throughout the Fifth District, acknowledging their Scout projects and work within their communities.

Congressional certificates of recognition are being mailed to all honorees and their families.

Gottheimer was joined during the virtual ceremony by Chief Operating Officer of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey Jessica Hoffman, CEO of the Boy Scouts of Northern NJ Rebecca Fields, Pastor Marc Stutzel of Christ Lutheran Church in Woodcliff Lake, Frelinghuysen Mayor Chris Stracco, Glen Rock Mayor Kristine Morieko, Oakland Mayor Linda Schwager, Rochelle Park Mark Gail Artola, River Edge Mayor Thomas Papaeleo, Dumont Councilman George Harvilla, Old Tappan Councilman Jin Yhu, Mahwah Council President David May, Allamuchy Council President Rosemary Tuohy, Allendale Council President Liz Homan, Park Ridge Council President Kelly Epstein, Westwood Councilwoman Erin Collins, Westwood Councilwoman Jodi Murphy, Fair Lawn Councilwoman Gail Rottenstritch, and Allendale Councilman Jim Strauch.
