U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer addressed the Bergen County Senior Services Advisory Council, took questions from the Council, and updated the Council on his work to fight for North Jersey’s seniors.

“For far too many seniors, it’s simply too expensive to live and retire in New Jersey,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “In Congress, I have fought to help seniors save their hard-earned money for retirement, so they can afford to stay here in New Jersey. That means cutting taxes for our seniors, lowering prescription drug costs, and stopping financial predators from scamming your hard-earned dollars.”

Gottheimer noted his bipartisan Senior Security Act, which recently passed the House and will strengthen protections for senior investors and help stop financial predators from scamming seniors out of their savings; his bipartisan work in the Problem Solvers Caucus, which Gottheimer co-chairs, to support prescription drug pricing transparency and encourage market competition; his support for stopping the double taxation on Social Security benefits; as well as his fight to restore the State and Local Tax deduction, to help cut taxes.

Gottheimer joined the Executive Director of Bergen County’s Division of Senior Services Lorraine Joewono, County Executive Jim Tedesco, Senior Advisory Council Chair Surkayant Shukla, and members of the Senior Advisory Council.
